At the core of every Metso PVC and PVG belt lies the solid woven carcass. This intricate single-ply construction plays a pivotal role in providing advanced tensile strength, outstanding tear resistance, and remarkable impact resistance — all ensuring reliable load support. Further, this solid-woven carcass then undergoes a PVC or PVG cover application via extrusion or vulcanization to create a shield to safeguard against fire hazards in both harsh environments and challenging applications.

Solid Woven Carcass - The foundation of reliability

At the core of every Metso PVC and PVG belt lies the intricate solid woven carcass — a testament to our commitment to quality and innovation. Our uniquely engineered binder warp system utilizes warp yarns that are intricately interlocked and bound into a single ply. This intricate single-ply construction plays a pivotal role in providing advanced tensile strength, outstanding tear resistance, and remarkable impact resistance — all ensuring load support.

The journey continues as the solid woven fabric undergoes a 100% dipping process with PVC to create the final carcass. On this carcass, we can apply two different types of cover:

  1. PVC covers --> the belt is called a PVC belt
  2. PVG covers --> the belt is called a PVG belt

No matter which cover you choose, fire resistance is the leading safety factor. The Metso PVC and PVG belt lines undergo a number of standard fire rating tests such as:

a. Underground and above ground mining applications according to EN 14973 and EN 12882

      1. Bunson burner test ISO 340
      2. Drum friction test EN1554
      3. Propane burner test (Gallery test, EN12881)
      4. Electrical resistance test (ISO 284)

b. Australian standard for underground mining applications FRAS-S

        1. Finger burner test according to AS 1334.10
        2. Drum friction test according to AS 1334.11
        3. Propane burner test according to AS 1334.12
        4. Electrical resistance test according to AS 1334.9

If you are dealing with potentially hazardous scenarios, Metso PVC belts excel by offering fire-resistant capabilities that meet global safety standards. With adaptable PVC compounds and up to 4mm cover thicknesses, these belts outperform in coal mining and other high-output applications. The PVC cover has excellent fire-retardant properties, surpassing established norms. Its good surface-cleaning properties make it suitable for sticky, high-moisture materials. Reinforced by a solid-woven carcass, Metso PVC belts are ideal for underground mining applications.

PVG conveyor belts

If your application or environment demands a high level of fire resistance, as well as advanced cover properties, Metso PVG belts provide the perfect solution for you. Available up to 4mm thick, Metso PVG belts are engineered to exceed fire resistance standards while delivering top-tier performance. Building on the foundation of our renowned PVC belting, PVG belts incorporate single or double covers that are composed of a blend of nitrile rubber and PVC. If you need to handle high tonnage with steep gradients, Metso PVG belts are essential for successful conveying in your challenging environment. The prolonged belt life will contribute to your sustainability goals and extend both your budget and maintenance intervals.
