Discover more about Pinja's experiences at Metso and why she enjoys working there.

My name is Pinja Raatikainen, and I work as a Summer Trainee in the global Talent & Development team at the Helsinki office, Finland. I'm currently studying at Aalto University, majoring in People Management & Organizational Development. I also have a keen interest in psychology and, therefore, I am minoring in Work & Organizational Psychology. I am passionate about people, equality, leadership, development and well-being, which is why I find my work at Metso so meaningful.

During my trainee period, I've had the opportunity to meet and connect with interesting people around the world. I have been part of several different projects, including our Strategic Leadership Program, Coaching, Well-being, Inclusive Talent Acquisition, and Our Voice engagement survey communication, to name a few. I have created support materials, videos, articles, intranet sites, social media campaigns, onboarding e-learnings, and have assisted in organizing a world-class leadership training, among many other tasks. My team has given me the chance to grow and excel in the areas I truly enjoy.

While all the projects have been interesting, the Strategic Leadership Program holds a special place for me. Collaborating with INSEAD Business School to create a leadership program for our top leaders at Haikko, Finland was a fascinating experience. Creating programs like this takes a lot of time and effort and my time management and communication skills surely developed during this project. In addition, I got to see how important it was to maintain a clear vision of the whole project while still ensuring practical implementation. Witnessing the successful outcome and the satisfaction of the participants made our team proud of our work. Providing such valuable learning and networking opportunities for our people shows once again the growth mindset at Metso.

We have a unique company culture that fosters collaboration and where we support each other in reaching our full potential. We prioritize psychological safety and foster an open and honest environment which is really important to me personally. Because of my team and the growth opportunities, I feel energized and enjoy working at Metso. I have made great connections at Metso and consider my colleagues as my mentors. I have learned so much from them and even though I don’t know what the future holds, I will definitely cherish these experiences and continue to develop myself in the future.

I truly recommend Metso as an employer and encourage you to apply when interesting positions become available!
