Metso starts consultation process regarding temporary layoffs in its Tampere plant

Metso Corporation’s press release on May 5, 2023, at 13.00 EEST

Market activity in the aggregates markets in Europe and especially in the Nordics has been considerably weaker, resulting in declining orders for Metso’s Tampere plant. Uncertainty in these markets and the subsequent cautiousness by the customers to buy new equipment has been increasing since spring 2022. At the same time, the inventories of manufactured equipment in the Tampere plant are at a higher level than normally.

To adjust its aggregates equipment manufacturing to the temporarily lower production plan, Metso Outotec Finland Oy has invited employee representatives to a consultation process at its Tampere, Finland crushing equipment plant organization. The possible need for fixed-term layoffs is maximum 90 days. The layoffs would be implemented during the rest of 2023.
